
My Story
My name’s Lathan Bass — former PE teacher and football coach turned full-time fitness and nutrition coach.

I was always active and into sports, but I was overweight most of my life. I felt confident on the field, but off the field, my weight held me back in more ways than I wanted to admit.
​
After a major knee injury ended my college football career, I knew it was time to take control of my health.
I didn’t know where to start, so I did what most people do — I Googled "how to lose weight."
​
I made a ton of mistakes. Tried all kinds of things that didn’t work. But I kept going.
Eventually, I figured it out — and lost over 100 pounds in the process.
​
The cool part? What started as a physical change turned into so much more.
It shifted the way I thought, lived, and showed up in every area of my life.
​
To this day, it’s the most impactful thing I’ve ever done.
​
People started noticing — asking how I did it, what changed, what worked. And that’s when I realized just how many others were struggling the same way I had.
​
That’s when I decided to transition out of teaching and coaching football to launch BassBuilt Fitness — helping others take back control of their health and change their lives, just like I did.
